How are Lighthouse scores calculated?
Lighthouse loads the page in a simulated mobile Chrome and scores it 0-100 across performance, accessibility, best practices, and SEO. The performance score weights metrics like FCP, LCP, TBT, and CLS. Same engine and source as Google PageSpeed Insights.
How is "real-user data" different from the scores above?
The scores are lab data: one standardized simulated load. Real-user data comes from the Chrome UX Report (CrUX) — the p75 experience of actual visitors over the past 28 days. Whether your optimizations actually work shows up in the real-user data.
Why do some pages have no real-user data?
CrUX only includes pages with enough Chrome user sample. New sites, deep pages, and low-traffic pages often have none. The tool shows the site-level average and labels it clearly — it never passes lab data off as field data.
