GA4 event naming plan
Event names are lowercase snake_case (a GA4 requirement) with one name per channel, so reports can split inquiries by channel.
- · Event names ≤ 40 chars, lowercase letters, digits, underscores only
- · One event name per channel — never a shared contact_click
- · Parameters carry the page and form; don't encode pages into names
| Event name | GTM trigger suggestion |
|---|---|
| inquiry_form_submit | GA4 event → form submission (form_id parameter per form) |
Verification checklist
Verify each channel once after setup; a click is not a valid inquiry — qualified inquiries need human or CRM review.
- 01 inquiry_form_submit
Submit once in GTM preview → see the event in GA4 DebugView → confirm in reports next day. Successful submissions must be distinguished from validation failures.
This is an implementation plan, not a deployed setup — verify against the checklist after tagging. Planning is not deployment.

Frequently asked questions
Does generating the plan make inquiries measurable?
Not yet. The plan is an implementation plan — the events only reach GA4 after you tag them in GTM and verify each one against the checklist. Planning is not deployment.
Why one event name per channel?
A shared contact_click makes reports unsplitable. One name per channel, with page and form carried in parameters, lets you answer which contact method actually produces inquiries.
Is a WhatsApp click a valid inquiry?
No. A click means the visitor started a conversation; whether it's a qualified inquiry depends on what they ask. Valid inquiries need human tagging or CRM sync — the checklist says so.
Can clicks inside a third-party chat be tracked?
Usually not — clicks inside an iframe don't pass through your GTM. Most chat vendors expose dataLayer events or an API; prefer the official interface, and the checklist reminds you.
